18 July 2013:  Army migrating to Adobe fillable forms.  Army Publishing Directorate will begin conversion of the Army's inventory of existing IBM Lotus forms to PDF in the first quarter of FY 14 with a completion by the end of FY 14.  Beginning in FY15, Lotus Forms and ApproveIt / eSign software will no longer be supported.  This is great news for Mac users since Lotus and ApproveIt has never worked for them.  new imagePlease know that the current EES system requires Lotus Forms and eSign to allow signing of OERs (currently) and NCOERs (in the future).

22 June 2013:  A LOT of dual persona users have had a difficult time activating their PIV cert.  Without it being activated, they cannot access their office AKO replacement email (@mail.mil).  All information regarding this process can be found here.  We have found 2 alternate options (depending on your Operating System version).

 

32 bit Windows users can use Firefox to activate your PIV cert.  Make sure you have Firefox set up correctly to use your CAC first. 

64 bit Windows users can use Waterfox to activate your PIV cert.  Make sure you have Waterfox set up correctly to use your CAC first.

24 April 2013:  We tested using Firefox recently, and it worked.  Make sure you have Firefox set up correctly to use your CAC first.  The parts above about ActivClient and Java still must match.

15 April 2013:  Received two confirmed reports that when Google Chrome updated their web browser recently the CAC ability stopped working for Mac computers.  Only recommendation is to use Safari for your CAC needs on your Mac.

12 February 2013:  The Advanced Technologies Beta mail has done its job bringing us to DoD Enterprise Email and was SHUT DOWN on 28 February 2013.  Sure wish DISA would have given us what this program did.

 

6 February 2013:  The MilitaryCAC.com website is now officially being mirrored at:  http://MilitaryCAC.mil  This has been an ongoing goal of mine since 2009.  DTIC is hosting the site and doing weekly "scrapes" of the site.  My hopes are that the 'Nay Sayers' will now see the same information on .mil and start taking my information being provided here seriously.

28 January 2013:  NEWS FLASH:  Windows 8 Basic users can download Coolkey (Select the Download link next to: Smart Card Manager 1.0.1-6-1 Installer for  Windows) since there is no current ActivClient available for you saving you the $80 - $200 upgrade price to Windows 8 Professional.  This program worked on my Windows 8 Professional computer.

3 January 2013: Army Users are now authorized to purchase Microsoft Office Products again as part of the Home Use Program.  This new program includes DISA, Air Force, and Army.

 

31 December 2012: Finished 2012 with 891,770 unique visitors, 2011 had 728,097 visitors

 

14 December 2012:   Found out that Navy personnel are not authorized to read your own email via OWA on your computer without the written permission of their local IA Authority IAW the SAAR-N you previously signed.   I also found out you will need to sign another agreement before you can read your own email via OWA from a non Government owned computer.  The Navy has quite a few requirements for your personal computer that they mandate you meet before before reading your own @Navy.mil email.  From what I was told, you could get into trouble if you do not follow these rules.  This must be why they make you login with your CAC to download ActivClient?  :)
